Gabriela Lee teaches creative writing and children’s literature at the Department of English & Comparative Literature at the University of the Philippines, Diliman. She is the author of the short story collections Instructions on How to Disappear (Visprint, 2016) and A Playlist for the End of the World (UP Press, 2022); the latter was nominated for a National Book Award for Fiction in English in 2023. She received the 2019 PBBY-Salanga Grand Prize for her children’s book, which was published as Cely’s Crocodile: The Story and Art of Araceli Limcaco-Dans (Tahanan Books, 2020). She is the co-editor of the World Fantasy Award-winning anthology Mapping New Stars: A Sourcebook on Philippine Speculative Fiction (UP Press, 2024) along with Anna Felicia Sanchez and Sydney Paige Guerrero. Her scholarly work has been published in recent journal issues of the Children’s Literature Association Quarterly, The Lion and the Unicorn, and International Research on Children’s Literature.
